Modern Paphos

After 1974, there was rapid economic activity in all fields especially in tourism in the Kato Paphos area. The government invested heavily in irrigation dams and water distribution works, road infrastructure and the building of Paphos International Airport, the second international airport in Cyprus.

In the 1980s Kato Paphos received most of the investment, 1990s Coral Bay Resort was further developed and in 2000s the Aphrodite hills resort was developed.

Today Paphos, with a population of about 47,300 (end of 2001), is a popular sea and a fast developing tourist resort, home to an attractive fishing harbor. Ktima is the main residential district, and Kato Paphos, by the sea, is built around the medieval port and contains most of the luxury hotels and the entertainment infrastructure of the city. Apostolou Pavlou Avenue (St. Paul's Ave.), the busiest road in Paphos, connects the two quarters of the city. It begins near the city center at Kennedy Sq. and ends outside the Medieval Fort at the harbor.

The given coordinates are only for suggested parking, to find the starting position, first must to find a few numbers, related to Cyprus and Paphos! After the start, each successive stage will take you to a place where you will find clue for the next and so to the final. Here we go!

Stage 2

N 34 45.(G-B)(C:F+B)B E 032 24.(D+H)(C-E)(D+G)

There are a few pairs of benches with lighting pole between them in line, your pair is number I, starting the counting from the sea side ( even it for some reason the benches are moved, the poles will be there ). By the way, you just passed beside:

Stage 3

N 34 45.FI(D-I) E 032 24.(G-H)F(D+I)

There is another interesting “building”. How many big “windows” you see at the both side of the door? This will be you number J.

N 34 45.D(I-J)(F+H) E 032 24.(B+F)(G+I)(D+I-J)

There is another bench ( at this moment ). Here your number K is the number of the palm trees between this two point, including missing threes ( at this moment there is only one empty hole, meaning one missing palm tree ).

( even it for some reason the benches are moved, the places will be there )

Stage 5

N 34 45.(K-E)J(F+J+D) E 032 24.(B+F+H)(K-C)(I-F)
