Geocache Description:

This off-set geocache is 5th in a series of 12 in the Elkhorn-Palisades Districts of the Blue Grass Council. Eagle Caches #5 and #6 are needed to find Eagle Cache #7. Stealth and discretion are mandatory! Bring your own writing instrument.

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete a project that—on average—requires 167 service hours. In 2008 alone, that translated to $16 million in service (based on the national volunteer hour value of $19.51/hr).

Elkhorn Park Neighborhood Eagle Project

An Eagle Scout Project was done in the Elkhorn Park Neighborhood along Dover Road in 2006 by an Eagle Scout from Troop 1789 in the Elkhorn District of the Blue Grass Council of Kentucky. The Eagle Scout Project was a series of wooden benches placed in the triangular park-like areas in the neighborhood for the neighborhood's enjoyment.

This cache container is a tube or vial only containing a log sheet. Upon reaching the final coordinates, you will walk an additional 40ft.

Take note of the clue written on on the log sheet. This clue is needed to locate Eagle Cache #7!

You can earn the special Cache to Eagle patch by finding all 12 Blue Grass Council Elkhorn-Palisades Districts "Cache to Eagle" geocaches. They will be published periodically throughout 2010. When you find & log all twelve caches, email the list of cache GC numbers, your caching name and your actual name for verification to geocaching@bgbsa.net, and you will receive a special Cache To Eagle patch (shown below). Upon verification you will be able to pick up this patch up at the Scout Shop located at the Blue Grass Council Office at 3445 Richmond Road in Lexington, KY. Visit the Blue Grass Council website (bgbsa.org) or Geocaching.com (caching name: BGBSA) for more details and the list of the other Cache to Eagle cache locations.

In addition, most but not all of the Cache To Eagle caches contain entry forms to fill out and return to the BGBSA Council office. Your name will be entered in the monthly raffle to win one of these unique and limited edition BSA 100th Anniversary trackable geocoins. If you don't win, your card will be left in the raffle box and you will have another chance the next month. We will be raffling off 30 of these limited edition, trackable geocoins. Please take only one card from the cache--multiple entries of the same name are not permitted. If there are no cards in the cache, let us know, and we'll place more in the cache and email one to you.
