***PLEASE NOTE TERRAIN RATING*** It might be a bit high, but I don't want anyone to underestimate the terrain. You will have to navigate a short scramble up and down a SLIPPERY slope, with loose forest debris and slippery mud on wet days. You will have to use your hands and feet to keep your balance. I recommend you wear footwear with a good tread, and possibly gloves as there are some thorns depending on your path. Easiest approach from the beach!
I have always wanted to place a cache in Mt Doug Park, so I had to sieze the opportunity when another cache in the area was archived. This cache was placed on a snowy day in November 2010. The container is a 2.9L lock-and-lock stuffed with a bunch of brand new trade items.
The challenge is the slope itself, and your reward for undertaking this task is a relatively easy-to-find cache and a smiley. The cache is placed strategically; you will be able to balance yourself while signing, and you will have cover from prying eyes above and below. GPS reception was a bit spotty due to tree cover, so use the hint if necessary.
This area is very busy on sunny days. It may be easier to approach the cache from the beach and work your way up, rather than slide down the slope in plain view of park-goers.
Please trade fairly and rehide as found!
FTF congrats go to creakyclanchris, which seems fitting since this part of Mt. Doug used to be his turf, so to speak!
