GAS Welcome!
hi there

This years GAS Winter event will be chaulk full of fun and prizes. If you've been doing this for a while come out and say hi to people you already know and to people you are about to meet. If you are new (and with all those Christmas goodies, there usually are a few new geocachers) come out and learn what to do and what all the acronyms mean.

This event is indoors so this will happen no matter the weather, unlike trying to find that micro under the pile of snow outside!

If you need additional help past the coordinates and your gps give me a shout and i can see what i can do.

Refreshments
I will be bringing some healthy and unhealthy snacks for people to munch on. Cookies, donuts, fruit tray as well as some water and coffee to wash it all down. If you want to donate to the list of refreshments let me know and I'll put your name and what you are bringing in the donor list with many thank yous.

Prizes
Of course there will be prizes. lots and lots of prizes!
Door Prizes, Raffles and Game Prizes!

The Door prize will be a surprise when you get there and everyone has a chance to win it

We will also be raffling off some goodie bags! Each bag will have a minimum of a TB, a GC, and a ready made cache.
Each ticket will be $5 or 3 for $10 (oh ya there's more than one goodie bag)

If you have something and wish to donate to the prizes, again your name would be under donors list with many thanks

Game
We will be introducing a new game at this event called UR Worst Nitemare! Instructions will be given out at the event however 1 person has the chance to win a brand spanking shiney new geocoin

==> Race++>
This portion is the start and end of the year long Travelbug Race! Last year we had 8 racers that have traveled in total 82,202 kms so far. All the racers info will be up at the event. the points, the maps, the pictures, everything! Also the winner will be announced and prize awarded.

This years race will be slightly different. We will be racing from the "Hat" to "Boot". In short, our racers will get points by traveling from Medicine Hat to Boot, UK (yes it's a real place). Along the way we will gather points by "collecting" different pieces of clothing and body parts. It may sound weird now but it will make sense soon.

If you are new and/or you don't have a travelbug we will have a few at the event that you can take off of us.

You can use a Geocoin if you want, however a word of caution: geocoins tend to go "lost" a lot more frequently than TBs so it's up to you.

If you will not be able to attend the event and still want to join the race, get a hold of me and we can arrange for your tb to be sent to me and join up.

Entry to Race = $5
Entry to Race + Travelbug = $15

*There is no limit to how many TBs you can enter. Just remember it's the entry fee per TB not cacher

Prizes for the race will depend on the amount of entries (more entries the better the prizes)

Please do not seal or crimp the TB chain before the event. We have an official race tag to go on each racer that we will have at the event. We will be soldering the chain shut after that. If you are going to have you're own wire instead of the normal TB chain bring your crimper and you can seal it after the tag goes on please!

Points
1 pt per 10km (yes km we are canadian)
5 pt per unique discoverer
10 pt per cache
25 pt per unique retreiver
50 pt per picture with TB in it
1,000 pts for best picture of the year voted on at next years event
1,000 pts for picture of TB with log book of GC159VZ
10,000 pts for arriving at GC159VZ (Boot, UK)
25,000 pts for returning to the original racers lounge (GC# TBD) after getting to Boot

Monthly Bonus Points:

Each month I will post and/or email a list of bonus points each racer can get. The catagories will be collecting Clothing and Body Parts for the "Hat to Boot Race", also monthly picture challenges and Travel Challenges. The points will vary on the difficulty of the challenges, however it is up to you to link or post the challenges each month so that the people who have your TB can help. If they don't know the challenges they can't help your racer
Rules
We are pretty fast and loose with the rules here. Remember this is for fun not life and death.

No one entered the race can handle another racer's tb. They may discover the racers but it will not count towards the points

If a cacher has had your racer for a lengthy period of time let me know and I will get a hold of them as the race coordinator and ask them nicely to move it along.

Bribes!? I don't know if anyone would do this but at some point the cost of entry fees and bribes would exceed the price of the prizes so is it even worth it?

If your TB goes missing within the first 6 months you can put in another TB at the 6 month marker. however all points from the first racer are then void and you must restart.

Race will concluded 365 days after start date(TBD) with the person(s) with the most points as the winner

*All entry fee's and raffle money goes back to pay off prizes, room rentals and everything else that makes this event and race. no profit goes into my pocket. if any profit is made it will get recycled back into next years event and/or the race.

**These are optional costs for added fun. You do not need to enter the race or get a raffle ticket to come to this event.
