Hermann Kerl (1901 - 1996) war langjähriger Hauptvorsitzender des Harzklubs. Er gilt als Vater des Naturparks Harz.
Die Hermann Kerl Hütte liegt an einem Wanderweg, der von Clausthal nach Bad Grund führt. Im Sommer lädt der Platz zum Verweilen und zum Picknick ein.
Der Cache befindet sich an einem trockenen Platz. Regen, Schnee und Eis können ihm nichts anhaben. Man kann den Cache das ganze Jahr über finden. Im Winter benötigt man gegebenfalls eine Langlauf-Skiausrüstung. Die Box ist nicht sehr groß, immerhin passen Coins hinein.
