Geocache Description:

Cache is located in Makepeace Lake WMA. WMA hours are 5am to 9pm. You can park off the main road and walk in or drive fairly close if you have 4wd. I would not the a 2wd vehicle down these roads. There is some bushwhacking, but nothing too bad. Boots may be necessary during the wet season.
This is an active hunting area, please be careful and wear orange during hunting season. BYOP.

Vernal pools are wetlands that fill up annually but typically dry out during some part of the year. These small but dynamic wetlands fill with water, blossom with life, and host a cacophony of sounds and a plethora of life forms every spring, only to disappear into the forest floor every autumn.

Vernal pools are special! They:
* improve water quality
* hold flood waters
* provide habitat to hundreds of species, including migratory birds

While exploring this area I noticed these little gems hiding in the woods where most people would never see them. So I decided to place some caches to bring folks out to these hidden treasures.

This is one of those caches.
