Kerang Swimming Pool Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Morris: I hear on the grapevine that the levee is finally undergoing some love and this cache will be unacessible for a while. It is unlikely to survive the renovations so I am archiving it so one of the locals can have the spot.

Geocache Description:

One of 2 caches along the walking track. The other 2 are closer to the other end of the track. A nice ride if you have your bikes with you.

This is placed near the levee bank that stops the Loddon River from flooding Kerang. It hasn't had a very big job to do for 10 years but it has saved the town twice in early 2011.

The cache is near where the old swimming hole used to be before the proper chlorinated pool was built in the 1960s. We used to come down here to swim without our parent's knowing - for some reason they didn't like us to swim here.

In the main street of Kerang is the Karlie McDonald Memorial Clock Tower which was erected to honour the death of Kerang High School Teacher who gave her life to save students from drowning further downstream during swimming training in March 1927.

The cache is hidden under a tree just off the levee - it is not on the side of the boxthorn and should be obvious to someone looking for it.
