Geocache Description:

This cache is dedicated to the bench on Littlehampton seafront which holds the record of being the longest in the world. This bench measures a total of 655m, beating the previous record holder, in Poland, by over 40m.

It opened in March 2010, costing £500,000. A private donation of £100,000 was made by Gordon Roddick as a tribute to wife Anita, founder of The Body Shop.
The entrepreneur, who died in 2008 at the age of 64, was born in Littlehampton and opened her first Body Shop in Brighton.

People are able to purchase slats on the bench and have messages carved on them. These carvings form the clues in order to find the final cache location.

To find the cache itself, locate the clues below and use the usual key to find the final cache co-ordinates:

N 50 AB.CDE
W 000 FG.HIJ

Firstly, go to N50 48.156, W000 32.245 and find Barry Welch.
The day of birth minus 2 = J
The day of death = F

Next, go to N50 48.155, W000 32.217 and share in Andrew & Marie Lovett’s happy day.
The month of date mentioned minus 1 = C
The second digit of day minus 1 = H

Then on to N50 48.156, W000 32.178 and visit Bob Innes.
The last digit of year of his birth = B
The day of his death plus 1 = D
The digits of year of death added together and then add 1 = E

On to N50 48.156, W000 32.120 and find Annie P.
The first digit of year mentioned = G
The month mentioned plus 1 = I

Finally, go to N50 48.156, W000 32.114 and count all the light green slats within the shelter. Careful, there are a few hiding!
Second digit of total number = A

You should now have all the numbers needed in order to work out the final cache co-ordinates. Good luck!

Please note that this cache is in a high muggle area during the summer season which accounts for the difficulty rating, however in the new location it won't be so much of an issue.

There is an interesting story in the following link about a proposal written in the slats, see if you can spot them on your cache hunt: (visit link)
