Bob’s
Rock
Mount Lofty Park is surrounded on three sides by the Yarra
River. This section of the river has the most concentrated series
of rapids on the Yarra. Bob’s Rock is a three-stage Grade 2
rapid located at the north end of picturesque Mount Lofty Park. It
is a popular play spot for keen kayakers and canoeists, and a
favourite of PoleCat S.
There are two ways to get to the cache:
The first way is by walking. Be prepared for a longish and very
pleasant walk. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery at
Bob’s Rock. (The 5-star terrain rating applies to the
paddling option. The walking option has a terrain rating of
3-stars.)
The second way to approach the cache is by canoe or kayak. Be
prepared for adventure if you choose this option. The rapids in
this section vary from relatively easy to quite challenging,
depending on the water levels. Please ensure that you have the
proper equipment, skills and experience if you choose the paddling
option. Do not paddle alone. Wear a helmet and PFD.
If you choose the paddling
option, please upload a photo of you in your kayak or
canoe.
The cache is a One Litre Sistema container.
Happy Paddling!
