This cache is in Robber's Glen a beautiful wooded glen, which runs upwards from the crinan canal into the hills ; this glen was once the haunt of smugglers and no more romantic spot could have been chosen for a distillery. The Glendarroch Distillery also know as the Glenfyne Distillery started 1815 until the distillery operation was closed in 1937, the warehouses were in use until the mid 1970's. The distillery is now a housing estate but the glen is as beautiful as ever.
There is very little parking around the glen the best place to park is at the very top of upper Glenfyne Park. Enter the woods and turn left. Take main path over the stone bridge, passed the swing, over the wooden bridges, keep left, passed the “wee dam” keep right, cross the “wee burn” but not the “big burn”.
Lovely walk in all weather but usually muddy so wellies good. Not suitable for pram/buggy's.
