In Connor's Farm Conservation Area in Smithfield, RI. About 100 feet off the main trail.
This section of Connor's Farm Conservation Area contains several large sections of exposed gneiss - huge folds of metamorphic rock that are part of the Esmond Batholith which comprises much of Rhode Island. The geology of the area is fascinating, and the numerous cracks and crevices in the gneiss are a cache hider's dream. Of course, the cache hunter may have a different description to offer.
The Conservation Area has a loop trail that is about 2-miles in length covers some interesting scenery. Be sure to check out the trail and seek the other caches hidden along the loop.
Parking is available on Connor Farm Road off Mann School Road in Smithfield, RI. Please park only in the small designated parking area. This is a quiet residential neighborhood, so please be respectful of private property adjacent to the Conservation Area.
The cache you're seeking is a small lock-n-lock container that has been camouflaged to resemble a rock. Once at the location, you will see two very large cliffs comprised entirely of gneiss. Scrambling in and around those cliffs would be a bit dangerous for most of us, so the cache is NOT hidden in any of the numerous cracks in the cliff itself. You'll need to review the hint for more, though.
Please replace the cache with care. This area is popular with local teens, so it needs to be well hidden, but please be sure not to push it out of reach.
