The Lazarus Challenge Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Heartland Cacher: Greetings I'm Heartland Cacher, one of the volunteer reviewers for new caches submitted to Geocaching.com.

It has been a while since I first looked at this cache. I can't find any recent responses from the Cache Owner about maintaining this cache which makes it appear the Cache Owner is either unwilling or unable to maintain the cache. Cache maintenance includes listing maintenance including updating any changes to the text, updating coordinates, removing needs maintenance attributes and enabling the listing. The cache will be archived and removed from the active cache listings.

Thanks for your understanding,
Heartland Cacher
Your friendly Geocaching.com Volunteer Cache Reviewer

Geocache Description:

Ever have the thrill of finding a cache that hasn't been found in a long time? Maybe even one that has been given up for lost? Or perhaps you're a cache owner whose cache has been sitting unfound so long that you wonder if its even still there? This is an attempt to get more activity on some of those forgotten caches. In a sense, this hopefully will 'resurrect' some of those caches. The listed coordinates are correct.

The challenge here is to go looking for and find 3 caches that have not been found for more than 120 days. To log this cache, you must meet the following requirements:

1. The caches can be any type other than virtual, webcam or earthcache. You MUST find the container and sign the log. Any logs which state that evidence of a caches' former existance was found (velcro or tape), or you were 'sure you had the right location' but the container wasn't found will not count as a find; however finding a mangled or partial container MAY count as long as you are able to sign a log or leave proof of your visit. Doing some repair work on a cache in poor condition earns bonus points!

2. At least one of the three finds must be a cache type other than 'traditional'; that is, unknown, multi, or letterbox.

3. Your finds must be at least 120 days from the previous find, or in the case of new listings, 120 days or more from the publication date for the first to find.

4. Only caches you have previously NOT found will count.

5. No retroactive finds, that is, you may only log this cache on finds you make on or after the publish date. The purpose of this cache is to encourage people to go out and make new finds on old or forgotten caches.

6. Team efforts are recognized and encouraged. All indivduals in a group searching and finding a cache together are considered to have met the requirements for logging this cache.

7. Caches that have been reenabled after a period of time being disabled will have the time between finds adjusted accordingly.

7a. Caches that are found while disabled (with some possible exceptions, such as safety issues or privacy issues) will count if they meet the other criteria. Sometimes an owner will disable a cache not knowing if its still there or not. If you care to take a chance and look, and find it in the process, all the better for you AND the cache owner!

To claim this cache, post a note or a bookmark list with the qualifying GC#'s or cache names. You will then be free to find and log this one!

This challenge probably won't be as difficult as you might think. Many caches lie dormant during the winter just waiting to be rediscovered in the spring. For the most part though, alot of the caches that will most likely qualify are those with higher difficulty or terrain ratings, puzzle caches, and caches in remote locations.

Many thanks to Mr. 'm' of ksmvav who came up with the original idea for this cache, and helped a great deal in developing the criteria!

Extra bonus points if you know the significance of the area where this cache is located!
