This cache is near Lock number 13- one of the very few canal locks along the Juniata that survived till today. At this location you can see the development and progression of transportation right before your eyes.
The best place the park is off of Route 322 at the Arch Rock Exit follow Old Route 22 west.

The Lewistown Narrows has always been a complicated area to pass because of its steep slopes and rock terrain. Along the path and at the Lock Keeper’s House Trailhead there are remnants of the old canal, which transported people on water. Across the Juniata River is the active railroad-constructed around 1950, which transported people by rail. And up the back of the mountain is the newer automotive highway, a much improved road from the early “PA turnpike” years. The Juniata River was and still is a mode of transportation, though now mostly in terms of recreation.
This cache is part of the Main Line Canal GeoTrail, a chance to experience the Pittsburgh-Harrisburg Main Line Canal Greenway through geocaching. The Greenway is a linked network of land and water trails, tracing the path of the historic Main Line Canal. These caches may be found in an outdoor recreation destination, a key heritage location or an environmental educational site- all ways the Greenway is making new connections between old neighbors. You must find at least 4 geocaches in each of the Main Line Canal Greenway Clusters and record the codes found at each cache in the Logbook. Once you have completed the MLCG Logbook you can receive a MLCG trackable geocoin. Remember CITO can be practiced all year long and Leave No Trace.
