Geocache Description:

The Stone Mountain Hoodoos can be viewed form the posted coordinates or accessed for a closer view from the Erosion Pillars Trail, which starts accross from Rocky Crest Lake 400m to the east.

A hoodoo (also called a tent rock, fairy chimney, and earth pyramid) is a tall, thin spire of rock produced during the erosion process. Hoodoos normally consist of soft rock topped by harder, less easily-eroded stone that protects each column from erosion. These hoodoos are somewhat different than most, as the columns are not composed of consolidated rock but rather till material and are therefore much more susceptible to erosion. If viewed from the Erosion Pillars Trail, please respect the Parks signage and do not climb or disturb the hoodoos.

In some of the First Nation traditions, Hoodoos are believed to be petrified giants who come alive at night to hurl rocks at intruders. However it was the Europeans that gave Hoodoo's their name.

To log this earth cache, email the following information to the cache owner:
- The number of Hoodoos visible,
- The estimated height of the largest Hoodoo.

Please post a photo of yourself with the Hoodoos in the background.
