For many years now people in the area have heard rumors that the spirits in the cemetery have spoken to people visiting the cemetery. Most people just get spooked and leave. If you are brave enough to stick around it is rumored that the spirits will tell you a story that will lead you to the prize. The prize what is the prize you say? Well that is the million dollar question as no one knows. If you are brave enough to stick it out maybe you may be the first to find out.
As you enter the cemetery you will be greeted with the faint sound of music. As you move into the cemetery it starts getting louder and louder. You suddenly realize it is Rock and Roll. As you get to where the music is the loudest you will come across a ghostly apparition of John and Mary Dancing to the beat. After the dance they will tell you the tale of the “Prize” and give you a clue as to which way you will need to head for more information. John tells you that you need to subtract 1912 from the year he passed away you will get the heading you need to find the next clue. Mary in turn tells you if you subtract 1550 from the year she passed away you will find out how far you need to travel. You need to listen to what they tell you and take what they tell you as being “True”.
As you leave the Rockers they crank up the jams and get back to their party. The last thing you hear as you walk away is them warning you about a Wild Woodsman. As you get near your destination you start to get a weird feeling. You look around and there is a ghostly image of a giant of a man with a double bladed axe headed your way. The first thing that comes to your mind is that he is going to use that axe on your head. Just then he throws the axe and it breezes right by your left ear, you spin around to see where it went just in time to see a demon explode into thin air as the axe parts it cleanly in half. You turn around and the woodsman is standing there staring at you shaking his head. He tells you how lucky you were to walk away from one of the many demons in the cemetery. He points out a few herbs growing near by that will deter the rest of the demons. Richard is the woodsman’s name and after you talk for a while he tells you he comes from Columbia Tennessee. You ask about the “Prize” and after a questioning look from the woodsman he cryptically tells you how to get to the next step in your search. For North you will need to add my birth year to 34.273. For West you will need to add the year I passed away to 52.265. He tells you that you will be looking for the Squirrel lady.
As you walk down the road you catch a glimpse of a little squirrel that seems to be leading you somewhere. As you approach a ghostly image of a woman feeding the small animals of the cemetery all of the animals scurry off except the little squirrel. The ghostly image turns around with a concerned look on her face then realizes that you are standing there and begins to smile. You ask about the “prize” and all she does is continue to smile. She then looks at the squirrel and to your amazement the little squirrel begins to talk. The squirrel explains to you that Gladys is not able to speak. She then begins to make a few hand gestures and the squirrel begins to translate what she is saying. Gladys points in a direction at 29 degrees and the squirrel tells you that you will need to walk 395 feet in that direction to talk to her friend Jennie. She will know more about the prize.
After walking all this way you will need to have a seat. You sit down and look around but, there doesn’t seem to be any more ghosts around. As you sit there wondering what is going to happen you get a cold chill. You stand up and turn around to see a ghostly female image sitting exactly where you were. Jennie apologizes and tells you she was just trying to warm up a little. She is a very slim lady and is very lovely. She has been cold for so long she just wanted to feel a little warmth. You ask her if she has any information about “The Prize” and she tells you she will make you a deal. The deal is if you give her the fabled “Uncomfortable Hug” she will tell you who can help you with your search for “The Prize”. After you give her the longest hug ever she tells you that Clary knows more about “The Prize”. To get there you must add 38 to your north coords and subtract 30 from your west coords.
The apparition of Clary was staring at a clock and muttering something about time standing still. As you walk up you get the feeling you would be intruding if you ask any questions. You stand there and you keep hearing “344, 344, 344, 344 The Caddy”. You listen more and you hear a bit of self questioning “How can they both be the same, degrees and feet they are the same, how can they be the same?”. You back away and ask yourself “Does the caddy have something to do with the prize?”.
You head off worried that Clary could be a little unstable talking about caddies, but you type in the numbers and head out to see what you will run in to. Low and behold you walk up and there is a caddy. What the heck is a Caddy doing in a cemetery? An apparition of a man dressed in knickers hovers out of the ground and says “He is the best Caddy he has ever had”. William tells you that with the caddie’s advice he can claim “The Prize” with every swing. You ask about “The Prize” and he tells you that when he hits his golf ball if it lands and hits something that makes a dull thump that is his prize. As you stand there in amazement you think to yourself, I came all this way to hear a dull thump? You think about it a little and ask, “So William how far do you hit the ball?”. Williams answers with the biggest grin, 630 feet. You then ask him to show you this wonderful swing, as he tees up he asks the caddies advice. The caddy tells William to aim 299 degree’s true and sure enough you hear a dull…Thump! After William finishes telling you all his world famous golfing stories of old you type in the information he has given you and head out to find “The Prize”.
Good luck on your search and don’t forget to thank all the wonderful spirits that help you on you quest.
