Prírodná pamiatka (vyhlásená v roku 1986) Vyhniansky travertín ( 320 m.n.m.) sa nachádza nedaleko termálneho aquaparku. Jedná sa ojedinelý výskyt usadzovania travertínového vápenca v oblasti slovenských neovulkanitov. Samotný „prírodný“ výtvor vznikol vlastne cinnostou cloveka - silne vápencová voda vyteká zo starej banskej štôlne, ktorá vytvorila tento prírodný útvar. Travertínová kopa je stále živá, tvorba horniny pokracuje aj v súcasnosti. Prvýkrát v Európe tu boli popísané železité baktérie rodu Gallionella. Voda, z ktorej sa travertín usadzuje vyteká z opustenej štôlne asi od r. 1953, kedy bol vybudovaný malý rezervoár na vodu pre kúpalisko.Travertínový stlp s vodopádom má výšku 3,5 m a šírku 80 cm. Kedže je momentálne travertínová kopa vlastne súcastou tenisového areálu, pozriet sa na nu možno len z dialky - asi z 30-tich metrov. No keška Vám ponúkne aj krajší pohlad ako ten ktorý by ste videli len z cesty.

K prírodnej pamiatke Vás okrem GPS prístroja dovedie tiež modrá znacka, kedže lokalita je súcastou náucného chodníka Andreja Kmeta, ktorý bol vybudovaný v okolí obce Vyhne. Keška je umiestnená nad prírodným výtvorom kde sa vám okrem detailnejšieho pohladu nan naskytne tiež výhlad na cast dedinky Vyhne. Hore sa dostanete najlepsie po ceste okolo pizzerie.

Nature Monument (since 1986) Vyhniansky travertine (320 metres above sea level) is located near thermal aquapark . This is rare incidence deposition of travertine limestone in Slovak Neovolcanites. Nature monument itself was actually created by human activity - strongly calcareous water flows out from an old mineshaft, this has created this natural formation. Travertine is still live and creation of nature monument is continuing in present. First time in Europe were described bacteries of Gallionella. Water is flowing out from abandoned mineshaft since aprox. 1953, when small water reservoir for swiming pool had been built here. Height of travertine pole is 3,5 m and width is 80 cm. As the travertine pole is currently in tennis area, you can see it only from afar - approx. 30 metres. But, cache will offer you more beautiful view as the view which you could see from road only.
Access:
Except your GPS to nature monument will lead you blue marked path, as the area is part of Andrej Kmeť education path, which has been built in Vyhne surroundings. Cache is placed above the nature monument, where you will be able to see part of Vyhne village. Use the path near pizzeria.
