This is a small tube with only a log in a kayak launch on River Road. You might be able to fit some very small swag or mini geocoin. Bring your own pen that writes on Tyvek. About 200 feet of light bushwhacking required. As this was placed in December, I would be wary of poison ivy, ticks and thorns in the summer. This is a pretty active place in the summer months so use stealth during canoe and kayak season. I don’t believe you can launch any motorized boat here.
This is one of my favorite spots to kayak. It has ample parking and a great kayak ramp. It is a beautiful spot to launch a kayak or canoe on the Peconic River. If you do decided to bring a kayak or canoe, notice the invasive species disposal area. This has become an increasing problem in the area. Invasive species are plants that hitch a ride on your boat and contaminate other places you bring your boat. They can choke out and entire waterway and completely mess up the surrounding environment. And in turn, contaminate the Peconic River when brought from other waters. So please bring your boat clean and clean it before you leave. It is also a very popular fishing spot. There are steps going right down to the water next to the ramp. Getting a kayak or canoe in or out is a piece of cake with this ramp. You’re only in about 6 inches of water so it’s perfect for the beginner or inexperience kayaker. If you’re not into the boat thing you can just enjoy the scenery or bring a rod and fish right off the launch. The fishing regulations are pretty conspicuous here with plenty of signs as to when and what kind of fish you can take out of the water and the size they need to be to keep them. This is a DEC property and as such I believe a permit is required to fish here. I don’t think you need any permit to launch a canoe or kayak. Good luck!
