Geocache Description:


Jim "Wrong Way" Marshall was a member of the Minnesota Vikings "Purple People Eaters" defense. Jim was involved in one the most embarassing moments in NFL history. In a game against the San Francisco 49ers he scooped up a fumble and ran 66 yards the wrong way into his own end zone. Thinking he had scored a touchdown he spiked the ball in celebration which went out of bounds. This resulted in a safety and 2 points for the 49ers. The Vikings went on to win the game because of a sack of the QB by Marshall which caused a fumble.Teammate Carl Eller picked the ball up and took it in for a TD providing the winning margin
