Around 1987, the cooperative "Gandralizdis" was established. A small café was built under the oak tree, which was very popular with Panevezys during the summer. "About 1993, when our company bought this cafe from Palijanskas, an extension was built and started all year round. Over time, the inn became more popular. We no longer have to accommodate and accept all guests, we had no other option but to invest and expand. It has never been easy, but working for the whole family and in good agreement can do a lot”, says the current owners of the café.
Lt: „Gandralizdžio“ idėja dar apie 1975 metus kilo liaudies meistrui Vaclovui Palijanskui. Nužiūrėjęs galingą ąžuolą, sumanė jame padaryti pasisėdėjimų ir nedidelių atrakcijų vietą. Taip pono Palijansko auksinių rankų dėka gimė namelis medyje.Tą vietą ypač pamėgo jaunavedžiai; netgi tapo tradicija grįžtant iš „zakso“ įlipti į medį ir išgerti šampano. Todėl iš pradžių šiai vietai prigijo „Jaunavedžių svetainės“ pavadinimas.
Apie 1987 metus, prasidėjus Lietuvos atgimimui, buvo įkurtas kooperatyvas-svetainė „Gandralizdis“. Tada ir buvo po ąžuolu pastatyta nedidelė kavinukė, kuri vasaros metu buvo labai pamėgta tarp panevėžiečių. „Apie 1993 m., mūsų įmonei nupirkus iš V. Palijansko šią kavinukę, buvo pastatytas priestatėlis ir pradėta dirbti ištisus metus. Laikui bėgant užeiga dar labiau išpopuliarėjo. Jau nebeistengdami sutalpinti ir priimti visų svečių neturėjome kitos išeities, kaip tik investuoti ir plėstis. Lengva niekada nebuvo, bet dirbant visai šeimai ir gerai sutariant galima daug nuveikti“, – pasakoja dabartiniai kavinės šeimininkai.
