Geocache Description:

Mr Herd started his meat empire dealing cattle in the Western District on his horse at 16 years of age.

Fred Herd Started M.C. Herd in 1951 with his brothers Jack, Murray and Frank, operating out of Mercer St's old Ballarat brewing depot.

In 1958 he bought the Bacchus Marsh abattoir, where the company remained and later founded Challenge Meats in the 1960s.

Unknown to most, Mr Herd was a great anonymous philanthropist and was awarded the Order of Australia in 1998 for services to the meat industry and the Geelong community.

You will be looking for a small magnetic container with the usual swaps, and a scratchie for the FTF.

Enjoy the Cache.
