Geocache Description:

Cache near the old Clyde log flume

One section of the Clyde Timber Flume

This is one of the really interesting locations to hike to in the Pikes Peak area. It takes about an hour to hike up to the old timber flume used in the days when Clyde provided timber to the nearby mines. The flume is in amazing shape and goes for quite a distance up the mountain.

Please, please do not walk on the flume or take any artifacts from the vicinity. I have had this concern expressed to me and if this happens we may lose access to this beautiful and very interesting site.(It is illegal to remove artifacts from any historical site over 50 years old such as this one.)

The easiest way is to get to this cache is from old stage rd. (It's about the same time from 67 or from Colo Spr) You want to start hiking near the old Clyde town site (WP included) and just go north up the drainage. The old log road went up this way but there are only traces of a trail and the road. When we hiked this we went to the top of the ridge above the flume for some great views and then hiked down back to the road following the ridges to the east.

A section of the Clyde Timber Flume about one-half mile above the cache
