Come and find this cache for some beautiful views over Te Haruhi Bay in Shakespear Park. If you come at the right time of the year, the pohutukawas will be bursting with colour.

The Shakespear Open Sanctuary Society Inc (SOSSI), working closely with the Auckland Council and the Defence Force, have turned Shakespear Regional Park into an Open Sanctuary, a true haven for native wildlife and plants.

The predator-proof fence is up, the pests have gone and bird numbers are up. Before long, threatened species will find a safe home here. For more information, take a look at SOSSI's website.


GETTING TO GZ / ABOUT THE CACHE
Since it looks like some people have got lost, or gone the wrong way, or accessed "out of bounds" areas whilst looking for the cache, we thought we'd better add directions. Drive to Te Haruhi Bay and park near the ranger's station. As you are facing the beach, go right, past the BBQs, and at the end of the field at the base of the hill, you should be able to spot the sign pictured here.

Please note there is a bit of hill climbing involved, the route is not very long but it is steep. The view from the top is well worth the effort though.

You are looking for a small screw top container with camo tape applied to it. There is no need to step off the path to retrieve it.
