The door of Ardern House opened and in came the craggy Dr Cameron. "Is Dr Finlayson in?" he called to Janet the unflappable housekeeper. "Aye he may be" came the reply, "why don't you give a wave, you never know, he might wave back" was her helpful suggestion.
