Nowadays, the presence of the Pierce family is still strongly felt.
There's Pierce Lake, Pierce Lake Park, Pierce Lake Golf Course,
Pierce Park, Pierce Road, Pierce Street, Pierce Lake School, and
even Pierce's Pastries Plus. And there is, tucked away in a
forgotten corner of the original Pierceville, the Pierce Cemetery.
Pierce Cemetery is a small burial ground, especially when one
considers the importance of the Pierce family to Chelsea. Found
within are a handful of old marble gravestones, their engraving
eroded from years of exposure. Only the tall, obelisk-like memorial
on the south side of the cemetery reflects the Pierce family's
stature in Chelsea. Nevertheless, the graveyard is all but
forgotten.
The cache is a waterproof match container. Pull completely off
the road onto the shoulder in front of the cemetery to park, and
please use stealth, as this cemetery is located in a commercial
area of town. Please bear in mind the state's dawn-to-dusk rule,
and happy caching!
Congratulations to woolsox, FTF
this cache!
