Gibbston River Trail (Central Otago) Traditional Cache
Gibbston River Trail (Central Otago)
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is located on the Gibbston River Trail which opened in December 2010. Taking six years to build it stretches from the Kawarau Historic Reserve (Bungy Bridge as it is commonly known) to Waitiri Creek Winery. The track travels along the Kawarau River and passes many old gold mining sites.
The cache is located on the "Wentworth Bridge Loop" which is a 2.7km loop that runs around Peregrine Winery. It starts and finishes from the Winery Carpark.
There are a number of largedrop offs around the track, so be cautious with kids. Mountain biking is not reccomened on this part of the track, but it is not forbidden.
The cache is a black 1L snaplock container and contained some child friendly swaps, logbook, pencils and a sharpener when it was placed. GPSr accuracy was +/- 4m when placed.
Please replaced carefully.
Lastly, to get the most out of this small loop, do the whole loop, there are many lovely bridges and views the whole way around.
