LBL Greenway East - Duck Island/End of the Road Traditional Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

GreenMinds: This geocache came to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either fix the problem or archive the listing, after picking up any geo-litter. See the maintenance section of the Geocache Hiding Guidelines. In the meantime, I've temporarily disabled this cache page.

Owner, if there is a good reason for a long delay in enabling this cache, do not contact me through email or the message center. Please post an update note log here on the cache page so that everyone will know what's going on. When the maintenance is completed, you can re-enable the listing by entering an "enable listing" log. Use an "Owner Maintenance" log to clear the "Needs Maintenance" attribute, if set.

I've added this cache to my calendar, and I will check back in 30 days or so to be sure that the maintenance has been done, or that an explanation has been provided. If the problem persists, I will need to archive this cache page for lack of maintenance.

Geocache Description:

This is the last leg of the LBL Greenway West series. The cache location is unique in that you can see right where the cache is, even from a hundred feet away. However, you must get there. Depending on the current conditions, you will have either a rather difficult assent to the cache and muddy conditions awaiting you, or you will need a boat to get to Duck Island which is only about 50 feet from the mainland, but the closest put-in point is across highway 68/80 (again, depending on current water levels, weather conditions, etc.).

The cache is well hidden and will become more difficult once Spring arrives. Winter is probably the best/easiest time of year to go for this one. You are looking for a medium sized bison-type container.

Enjoy the view of the Lake Barkley Bridge from here which is located a few hundred feet away.

I call this Duck Island because the day I placed this cache, I came home with three decoys that had become loose and washed up on these shores. Maybe you will have some duck luck too?

Parking for this cache is N 36 48.191/W 87 59.158
