When the winter snows cover the hills, unplowed backroads become
trails into the forest. We can stomp in the snow, snowshoe, or
cross country ski along these routes. We are never sure how far we
will get nor where we will turn around, but we watch for tracks in
the snow and the signs of wildlife. Our own tracks mark our passing
on roads less traveled.
Turn onto the Goose Lake Road and watch for the side road heading
southeast toward the flanks of Hull Hill. There are a few caches in
this area now (with more to come). Follow the road and stay left at
the junction. At a later junction, the cache is down a sideroad
heading north.
In early winter, we saw deer and coyote tracks, and left some
snowshoe and boot tracks of our own.
