What do these sports venues have in common?
Hint zero (added 10/31/2017) ID the cities where the 10 sports venues are located. Construct a Google search that begins with Wikipedia + poet followed by the city names. The answer is currently on the first page of the Google search result.
What you are seeking resides at the prescribed distance and direction from each of the venues. Determine what's common to all ten. Spell it out. Replace each letter with the rightmost digit of its letter count. Let the first ten digits be abcdefghij.

The next few hints will help find the ten places where “what you are looking for resides”. To find these ten places you need to “look about” at the prescribed distance and direction from each venue (using Google Earth of course). This hint will focus on the distance part. Each venue has a number in its name. That number is a distance. You have to figure out the units. It could be inches or feet or yards or meters or kilometers or miles. But it’s none of those. I selected a unit that would allow all the distances to be integers and still get you close enough to recognize what you are looking at. It’s something to do with the theme of the puzzle.
Hint 3: 12/19/2010 This hint will focus on the direction part. There are lots of possibilities. And if you’re not careful you could get bogged down in “trying to read the puzzler’s mind”. To avoid that, the puzzler has come up with a nifty solution: Make all ten search directions the same. Everything you need to figure this out is given on the listing.
Hint #4: 9/23/2011 The 10 "homes" you are looking for have nothing to do with sports, just happen to reside in the vicinity of these sports venues. The common resident of all 10 homes is something almost all of you will recognize, copies of an original.
Note 9/23/2011: Changes to Google Earth in version 6.0 will require that your version is setup correctly. If you use the default settings for v6.0 you will not be able to solve this puzzle.
