Geocache Description:

Redmayne Ramble: a 5km/3m walk around Yealand Redmayne.  A wide variety of landscapes, good paths and 7 caches.

No.2 - Yealand Redmayne is an old village with lots of history from before Doomsday Book.  Manors and posh houses have ruled over the area, the Civil War and Jacobite Risings have all impacted on the people.  The village also played a part in the start of the Quakers in the 17th century.  A Meeting House is still in the village.  More info here and here.

As you follow the footpath along to this cache you will have to negotiate several kissing gates and stiles.  This is because the path goes along the bottom of the old strip fields, which run down from the houses.  The pattern is very obvious on the map, and has survived the main enclosures of the surrounding land, producing bigger fields.

Cache is a round black tub.
