Dog Sign Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wizard of Ooze: Hello,

In a routine check of area caches, I see that your cache has been disabled and/or missing for an extended period of time. The geocaching guidelines include a section on disabled caches: http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#cachemaintenance

"You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to ensure it is in proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.), or posts a Needs Maintenance log. Temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have addressed the problem. You are permitted a reasonable amount of time – generally up to 4 weeks – in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing. If you decide not to replace a missing cache, please archive the listing."

While it is fun to hide new caches, maintaining the ones that you already have is a required and important aspect of cache ownership. Experienced cachers such as yourself should be responsive to "Needs Maintenance" and "Did Not Find" logs, and maintain/replace missing caches in a timely manner. Waiting for a volunteer reviewer to remind you of your caches which have been out of service for prolonged periods of time is not respectful of the time required by those volunteers to do so -- time we would much rather be spending going caching ourselves or spending time with friends and family rather than sitting at our computers.

I’ve archived your listing to make way for new, active caches to be placed. I hope in the future that this sort of intervention on the part of a reviewer will not be necessary for your caches.

Thank you,

Geocache Description:

One in the sign series.

This beach has one of my favorite signs in Oak Bay...

A second hilarious sign... bear in mind that when I took the above photo, of the water fountain near the cache, it was Dec 17th but 8 degrees and balmy!
