Geocache Description:

12th in the “O' Brother Where Art Thou?" series…one of my favorite movies! Released in 2000, it highlights the travels, exploits, and adventures of Everett, DelMar, and Pete! BYOP.

This scene finds our three loveable crooks making their way through a cornfield to nearby railroad tracks where a freight train is passing by. Everett manages to hoist himself into a boxcar, while Delmar scrambles in after him. As Everett asks the hobos aboard if any of them were "trained in the metallurgic arts," Pete misses the boxcar and falls to the ground, taking Delmar and Everett out of the train with him. They watch the train continue on without them.

Everett tries to plot out a new escape route, but Pete rejects Everett's leadership for the trio. While they argue, they hear the dogs again. Behind them on the rails, they hear the squeaking of a single handcar. A very elderly blind man pumps the lever. The three scramble onto his cart. The blind man, who has no name, tells them that they “seek a great fortune,” which they will eventually find, “though it will not be the fortune you seek.”

“First, you must travel a long and difficult road,” he says, where they will “see things - wonderful to tell." The older man tells them they will see “a cow on the roof of a cotton house” and other "startlements." He tells them not to fear the "ob-stackles" in their path as he guides them down the railroad line.…hence the title of the cache.

This hide is located off Highway 90, and you can park at the intersection of S.A. Jones Rd….just DO NOT PARK ON HIGHWAY 90! I don’t think you’ll have to worry about an older, blind man on a handcar travelling the nearby railroad tracks (other side of highway 90) but consider this line while you are out enjoying geocaching, “Tho the road may wind, yea your hearts grow weary, still shall ye follow that road.”
If you have seen “O’ Brother Where Art Thou?” then you’ll soon understand the connection with this location and title. HAPPY HUNTING!
