Geocache Description:

This cache is NOT at the published coordinates.
Please do not hunt there.

On June 18, 2008, the night was clear and visibility was excellent. A full moon rose over Lake Crabtree, resplendent in its summer orange; the June full moon is often called the 'honey moon' or 'strawberry moon' because of this color. As is common under a full moon, there were numerous reports of unusual lights in the sky. These were, of course, dismissed as swamp gas, Venus (thank you Jimmy Carter), or even light reflected from weather balloons. I didn't give it much thought, as UFO reports are about as common as pine trees.

I should say I didn't give it much thought until recently, when a set of bad coordinates (I admit it - it was a puzzle cache with no geochecker) led me to an area I was unaware of before, an area that I suspect was impacted on that June night in 2008. I found a rectangular clearing about the size of a football field and completely devoid of brush. There was evidence of charring near the center of the clearing, and as I investigated I found a metal container partly buried in the ground. Heart racing, I pried it out of the ground and (probably foolishly) popped it open. Inside I found thirty six small tiles, each adorned with symbols I did not recognize. Suspecting I'd made an important discovery - but fearful of what might happen if I made the discovery public - I took the tiles home and studied them for many months.

Eventually, I came to realize what they are: a map of sorts, identifying a spot adjacent to what I now think of as the landing zone. The pictures below show the tiles - 36 in all. Should you be able to decipher the tiles, you'll find the same metal container I found, though its contents are now a little less exotic. Good luck!
