HNY11 Troll Thief Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

BAPMAN CREW: Kind sad to shut this down as it was my first attempt at a letterbox. I heard from many people saying that they enjoyed the story and the hunt. The container came up missing and it time to try something new.

Geocache Description:

The Troll Thief

We start our journey in the small town of Shawville. This is a nice little town busy with people working and playing. On this day though, the town had a Troll Thief by the name of RJ in their mist that was looking for something to steal. We first spot him just inside the town looking for a victim. This is where the days travel will “START”.

He moves his way east out of town then around to the southside where he finds many travelers. Quickly he spots a business man as he gets off the train and grabs his suitcase. Knowing he must get out of town lick-it-y-split he runs west until he reaches the old structure known as the “Two Towers”. Climbing to the highest floor of the south tower he takes time to catch his breath. Looking down at his stolen treasure, he is so tempted to look inside but he hears the town’s people hunting him. Looking out a peephole to the west he sees 3 trees that seem to point the way to escape. He makes a quick dash west past the old road until he come to a vast clearing. . There is a trail there leading to a distant tree with a large crag at the base. Knowing that it should not be more than 140 feet to safety, he hurries along. Here he takes a moment to be sure he has not been followed and to survey the area.

RJ sees he has gotten away but knows there are others problems ahead. He lives in the woods to the south but the area is filled with other trolls and bandits of ill temper. If they were to see his new chest, they would surely kill him and keep the unknown riches for themselves. The trail on the north side of the tree takes him southwest almost 250 feet till he comes to an intersection of many tails. Now I know that doesn’t seem far but for a troll with short legs and carting a large suitcase, this can be a strain. RJ’s heart is racing and he knows he is in the open and must quickly decide which way to go. The trail west would take him to areas he does not know. East would take him the long way home.
He dares not go straight through the forest because that would mostly cause death. There is a trail that goes south just outside the western side of the forest. Yes that will be the route.

Hurry he goes about .06 of a mile until to his left he sees the Trolls Tavern just inside the woods. Danger it may be, but parched he is and drink of ale is too much for a troll to pass by. He takes a seat at the bar and wets his throat but quickly feels the eyes on his case. No … he can’t stay long and must get his stolen treasure home. Behind his stool is a small southern trail and off he goes for the safety of home. This trail he likes because he is just inside the forest edge where he can use the cover. After walking but .02 of a mile he see’s to his left about 40 yards away, a clearing with a structure that many thieves use as a common ground, but he is not in the mood for socializing and continues south on the small trail staying just inside the edge of the woods. With only .04 of a mile to go he is feeling confident for his home is now close.

Finally he reaches his home. It is a small place that he has put his name upon. RJ is too smart to keep valuables at this home and needs to get his new treasure to a safe place. There is a short walk southeast and not 100 feet. Here is where our Troll Thief keeps his concrete safe. Are you sneaky enough to raid his treasure?
