Geocache Description:

Part of a series of caches named after song titles and hidden around the Gedling Colliery site. Some have clues to help you find GC Deep In The Woods. See GC Gedling Colliery Final for information about the site, parking, access and attributes.

This multi takes you onto the route of an inclined tramway which ran from the pit head to a land sale yard on Mapperley Plains (the site of the Chartwell Grove estate).

If you go to the listed co-ordinates, you'll find a simple wooden structure built from railway sleepers. Count the sleepers:
 

  • If there is 1 sleeper, the final is at N52 59.566 W1 06.182
  • If there is 2 sleepers, the final is at N52 59.525 W1 06.118
  • If there is 3 sleepers, the final is at N52 59.518 W1 06.054
