We discovered Doumac Park while caching in the area and wondered about the origin of the name Doumac. After a little online research we found that Doumac is the contraction of the names of two individuals, Fred Dougall and George McMorran. From 1909, until the company's failure in 1912, the partnership of Dougall and McMorran sold lots in this neighbhourhood from $250.00 and up. Those were the days. ;) During World War I George McMorran was a gunner. When he returned he opened a shop to sell ice cream and cigars. This evolved into a tea house and by 1930 it was a very popular ballroom. Today, McMorran's Beach House, 5109 Cordova Bay Rd., remains a Victoria landmark.
