"Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance -- An Inquiry Into Values" by Pobert M. Persig is a first-person account of a 17-day motorcycle journey from Minnesota to California by the author and his son. The narrative includes numerous philosophical discussions on topics including epistemology, ethical emotivism and the philosophy of science. The book has sold over 4 million copies worldwide. Following are some quotes from the book:

"The place to improve the world is first in one's own heart and head and hands, and then work outward from there."

"The truth knocks on the door and you say, "Go away, I'm looking for the truth," and so it goes away. Puzzling."

"You look at where you're going and where you are and it never makes sense, but then you look back at where you've been and a pattern seems to emerge."
