A place where you can look out across the Bay to make sure Aotearoa (New Zealand) is not invaded.
Park at the Russell Cemetery and walk down toward Long Beach. Just above the toilet block there is a track to Waitata Bay. This cache is best done at mid to low tide. It can been done at high tide, but more challenging!!!
Walk along the track until you get to a rocky/stony beach. Continue to the other side of the beach and walk around the rocks. When you go past the shags poo you know you're going the right way.
Keep going around the rocks until you get to the point. If you look up you'll see the big concrete structure.
Scramble up the rock face to see the view from the "Grand Cannon".
