This cache was placed with my daughter Tara and replaces the lost Hidden Lake cache (GCE0C0) which is now most definitely or indefinitely hidden. :) We maintained the old one more than a year because the owner is long gone but it’s a great cache site. It is not a P&G and really what we think of as a true Geo Cache. It's out there but accessibly remote in Landahl Park.
The terrain difficulty changes with the season you are searching in. Both of the following are great for kids and added adventure but the choice is yours. The final search will be challenged by the woodland canopy messing with your GPSr. It’s not too hard if you think like a geocacher.
First is the shortest route and best in late fall thru early spring when foliage is at a dull roar. Park at the Argo Rd parking lot and you are less than a quarter mile away. Look north and the hill in front of you is your destination. Find the trail down then around the back of the lake. Get a good GPS reading here, it’s the last good one you get. Take the deer trail near the cedars uphill then across the MTB trail to the cache. This route is always overgrown in summer and usually a tick and spider festival but fun anyways and will test your determination. You are forewarned.
Second is the longest route by far and the best in summer. No bushwhacking or ticks this way. Park in the lot on FF Hwy (Truman Rd) and use the map at (visit link) to get around the Snake Charmer section of the Tasty Goodness MTB trail. It’s about 2+ mile hike. It could be much shorter but it was built and is maintained by mountain bike enthusiasts so it zigzags all over. Take your bike or walk it, it’s worth the trip by itself. If you love nature take this route any season.
