The Kanazawa 21st century museum opened in 2004, and mainly exhibits the modern art.
Kanazawa had been a city of art, and many high-tech (computer/LCD/precision mechanics, etc) makers are from Kanazawa. That shows, the people in Kanazawa have deep understanding to progressive technologies and arts.
Please visit the museum inside (closed on Mondays/new year holidays). You can see the modern art with joy, not difficult!!
