When this cache was first placed to meet a geocaching merit badge requirement, there was a "ladder" of boards that had been nailed into some trees at this cache's original location - hence the cache's name.
Since then, many changes have occurred in this park. Some cachers have commented that there is no ladder anywhere to be seen - that is now true: over time, the "rungs" of the ladder either rotted off or fell off, but the name of this cache stayed the same. Then, a fence went up, which required movement of the cache over to the other side of the park. Then, new playground equipment was installed, which was later torn out and replaced again. Most recently, a park sign and a few parking spaces have been installed. The park today is busier than it ever was, which requires some stealth when it is being used, but the cache placement has remained the same for years.
Note: damaged cache replaced on 2/28/13 with a 35mm container, still within sight of the cache's namesake.
Note: Throwdown cache removed 4/11/23. Original cache found damaged and about 20 feet away, without log. New container and log placed back into its spot.
