A cache located in the vacinity of two of Ballarats Emergency Services units.
Difficulty has been raised due to the new location of this cache- it is in a far more exposed area than it was.
Triple Zero is a small Thank You to the dedicated people (whether paid staff or volunteers) from the various emergency units- - Police/ Ambos/ CFA/ DELWP and SES around Ballarat- who respond to the many and varied triple zero calls- day or night- and help in some way to make Ballarat and he surrounding area a safer place for us to live in.
Wendouree is one of Ballarats four fully volunteer fire brigades. It was established in 1913 to provide protection for Wendoure and was located in Howitt Street. It operated unitl 1932 when the Country Fire Brigades Board had the unpleasant task of disbanding it along with a number of other brigades in the state basically due to budget cuts. Some 28 years later with the growth of residences and industry in the area (Timkin; Franklin Carvans; Villiers etc) moves were made to reform Wendouree Fire Brigade. This re-establishment was not easy for various reason but eventually the first official meeting of the refrmed Wendouree Urban Fire Brigade took place on December 7th 1960.
Like her sister brigades in Ballarat Wendouree serves not only Wendouree but the whole of Ballarat. They travel where ever they are required in Victoria, and also to NSW and Tasmania- paying their interstate brigades in kind as they often come to Victorias aid when needed.
Wendourees speciality in an MCV or Mobile Communications Van. A travelling office and communication centre that is used on or near fire grounds.
The cache is a small camo container with plastic wrist bands and other emergency services related swaps that Goekids will like. Please try and keep to this theme, even if it's emergency services from other states or countries.
Please be mindful that emergency vehicles depart from these two places Code 1- or under “lights and sirens”. There is restricted parking near one of these buildings however there is ample area for cachers to park off the road, out of the way but close to the cache. Please ensure when returning the cache that it is well hidden- there are many passing muggles in this area
EXTREME STEALTH IS NOW REQUIRED when retrieving this cache due to its new location so have upped the difficulty to 3
Note: There is no need to go near the building.
