Geocache Description:

An outcrop of rock with great views, which is also includes the site of an ancient fort.

Allen Knott was the site of an ancient settlement which was believed to have been a fort. No evidence has been found to prove whether the fort was Roman or ancient Briton origin.

The cache site is located near Troutbeck Bridge, it is an outcrop of rock with great views of Windermere and the surrounding fells. We’ve found this a great area for walks where you can include circular walks to places like Wansfell and Orrest Head.

This cache is located on National Trust land so please follow the country code. Please do not climb on walls, close gates and keep dogs on leads.
