I received everything needed to place a night cache last Srping as a late birthday present, right as Anchorage was losing darkness to the point where night caching was very hard to do. These vital equipment pieces have languished in the closet since then. Now that we have passed winter solstice and the length of the dark times are again slipping away certain people are applying pressure about EXACTLY WHEN will the night cache be published. So here it is.
Congratulations! The FTF honors go to FlightRiskAK!
This is a fairly simple and straight forward night cache. All the reflectors are WHITE. Ignore everything bigger than a dime and red reflectors. (I only saw a couple but couldn't figure out where they were going or came from.) The entire route follows what appear to be trails. At least when laid out they were all packed down and easy to follow without skiis or snowshoes. You cannot see the next reflector from every one but turns are well marked so you should not get lost too easily. Remember to follow standard night caching practices such as waypointing the car and setting tracks on the gps in case for some reason you do get confused.
When you arrive at the Smiley face you have reached your destination. While facing the Smiley face the cache is behind and to your left..
