Geocache Description:

Discover one of the best easily accessible stairway climbs in Auckland. This is hill training heaven. 750 stairs among well groomed track to a lookout.

Do it twice and you will really know you have worked! From the summit lookout use the clue to make the final small bush bash section less painful

Views extend across to the Waitakere's through to the Hunuas and Coromandel.

From Clevedon central head out along North Rd, turn left into Thorpe Quarry Road. Upon hitting the carpark at the end, walk up the drive past Camp Sladen and over a foot bridge.

Just past here following the path you hit the bush edge and you are faced with a choice of three tracks; one to the left then left again which heads up (take this one), one that heads up the hill to the centre right, and one flat one between them all which heads up to a waterfall. As I said go left left.

The "impossible staircase" goes round and round in a loop and can seen never ending (especially if you decide to turn this into some training and do it more than once!) For the fitter people among you take the challenge to run all the way to the top. If you manage this (which isn't easy) you should top out in 12 minutes. Those that manage 12 minutes, try it again and see how "easy" it is twice

Oh, yes the cache....from the summit lookout views extend across to the Waitakere's through to the Hunuas and Coromandel. To make things easier, from the platform note the lay of the land and use the clue before you set off on the final small bush bash section. The cache is a camo painted sestima 200ml. Sorry there is no armchair to sit on to fill out the log book

This is an increasingly busy area with lots of people taking advantage of the calorie burning properties of this track so be aware of eyes.

The quaint town of Clevedon is good for a poke around on your way in or out, and the nearby winery Puriri Hills makes arguably the best 'right bank bordeaux blends' in the country. They are sensational. Have fun
