For this particular cache, we would ask that you stick to the footpaths and APPROACH THIS ONE FROM INSIDE THE WOOD.
There is no space for a pen or pencil in this cache, Altnew 3, so please make sure you have your own. This is designed to be a little bit different. Replaced and slightly reloacted in May 2017, the container is not in immediate view BUT does not require any whole scale demolition or heavy lifting! The hint is now hopefully precise to save your sanity, when you choose to use it! Be sensible in your search and only move loose objects with care. Please replace it as you find it with reference to the now expanded hint.
The revitalised Altnew series now comprises 8 caches placed on a circular walk, which starts in Altofts, touches on the edge of the historic Newlands estate and offers glimpses of Normanton, Wakefield and even Emley Moor mast on a clear day. Numbers 3-6 are the original, with the other 4 being new caches. Street parking is available near Altnew 1 but please be considerate.
The whole walk should take between 60 to 75 minutes and is virtually all a mixture of clearly defined field paths and old roads. These can become very muddy in wet conditions and walking boots are recommended. Unfortunately, it is not really suitable for pushchairs.
