The SQ in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial gardens. This is a good distinction to put on this type of cache and would like to see it used here in Michigan. Please be respectful of the area, and observe their rules and posted hours, Only visit cemeteries dawn to dusk through out the state unless other hours are posted, so that we do not end up like other states that do not allow any caches placed in any cemeteries!
The gates here close at 4:30.
Each year at this time, I released The Gathering to commemorate “The Gathering”. “The Gathering” is an event held in the area every year between the holidays. It is a gathering of the Lutheran Youth Organization of Michigan. Traditionally this event has been held in Lansing, Michigan, this year it has been moved to Novi. Each year since we started caching I have put a cache out near where The Gathering that year. Being I love cemetery caches, and this cemetery is not only within 2 miles but is also a Lutheran cemetery, I felt it just what I wanted in a cache.
Having a great love for music, I was in charge of hiring the bands at The Gathering for many years. With this the first stop of the cache is appropriately taking you to something very musicale, once here you will gather the information that will take you to the final. The cache itself is a clear sandwich sized lock-n-lock.
This cache is a projection cache. Generally I object to projection caches in which the projection is over 528 feet as the ark of the projection can have you a long way off by the time you get there. This cache dialed in tight enough that I believe you will find it with ease once you have your GPS compass set to “true north”.
Now with your GPS compass set to true north it is time to figure out your bearing and distance to the final cache.
Dressed in white, take all of the short rows and multiply this by 50, take that number, add 25 and you now have the distance in feet that will get you to the final.
Dressed in white, take the total of all the short rows and subtract the total amount of rows from that number, now you have the degrees of travel you will need to get to the final.
Keep in mind that you are projecting over 528 feet, so be ready to search out of zero, if done correctly you will be within about 10 foot of this cache, remember “true north”.
