Geocache Description:

The Nahoon point nature reserve consists of small pieces of coastal forest, a tidal river system with flat sandy and wetland area's. In the 60's, 200 000 year old footprints were discovered here and it is home to various fauna and flaura including dassie, duiker, mangroves and the rare Knysna Warbler. The area was once inhabited by porcupines but they have since all vanished due to hunting and the duiker seem to be vanishing also. Another crisis facing the reserve is pollution & overfishing.

This cache is part of the NPNR Trail Series, which you’ll be able to do 9 caches along an 8km walk. The trail is divided between walking through coastal forests and along a breathtaking coast line. Although you free to do the caches in any order you wish, I have set up guidance in an anticlockwise direction, completing the caches in numerical order.

The East London Golf Club belongs to the top courses in South Africa. The South African Open Championship took place here seven times already. The course lies near the Nahoon Beach and offers in many places breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. The course's terrain is hilly and undulating throughout with considerable differences in altitude. Right at the first hole (par five) it goes steeply uphill. The fairways are mostly seamed by thick bush. There are no water hazards, but numerous well placed bunkers.

From EL Beachfront View head back down the dune and head left from WP9 and continue along the path.
