Geocache Description:

Visit Vernon, Vermont. Visualize various valuable vistas and verify a vast variety of variables.

This cache requires that you travel in your vehicle, whether it be Volkswagen or velocipede, through Vernon, Vermont. You will have to verify various pieces of information on monuments and signs before visiting a certain area for a hike. Follow the directions below to look for numbers to plug into the formula to find the cache coordinates. N42 AB.CDE W072 FG.HIJ

The posted coordinates will bring you to the monument marking the original location of Fort Bridgeman. Park at the edge of the lot and walk over to the stone monument and flag pole.

Stage 1: Fort Bridgeman monument. The number used to describe how many times something happened = D and also E. The day (date) mentioned twice on the plaque plus 5 = FG.

Stage 2: Historical marker for Jemimah Tute. A roadside pull-off -- might not be plowed. If snowed in, park at stage 1 and walk to the sign. N42 47.274 W072 31.840. The number on the last line = C. The second number on the fifth line minus 3 = H.

Stage 3: The Vernon Historical Museum. There might be a plowed area to park in winter. N42 44.223 W072 28.189. The second digit on the sign = A and also B.

Stage 4: Basin Road parking area for the town forest. N42 43.944 W072 32.426. The second full word of the heading on the kiosk, the number of letters = I. The third full word of the heading on the kiosk, count the letters = J. (Be sure to use the title on the kiosk, not the separate sign to the left, though you would be close.)

Park here (parking is plowed in winter) for an approximately 1/2 mile hike to the cache on dirt road and trail. During non-snow times, the gate may be open and the road may be passable to rugged vehicles. There is a picnic area a few hundred feet from the cache. The cache is a small camouflaged lock'n'lock in a winter-friendly spot.

Congratulations to bren1467 for getting the very fine first-to-find in the snow!
