Geocache Description:

This is a 4 stage offset cache with some limited free parking nearby available for an hour along the harbour. Alternative Pay & Display parking can be found behind the Pavilion Theatre. Distance from Start to Cache is approx 700 metres. You are looking for a small Magnetic Nano. The entire route is wheelchair friendly with only slightly sloped paths.

On the corner of Maiden Street and St. Edmund Street there is a house - it's actually now the ‘Ladies’ - where high up in the wall there is lodged a cannon ball. It is believed to have been fired when the Royalists who had captured the Weymouth side of the harbour bombarded the Melcombe side which was held by the Parliamentarians during the civil war. What is the date on the plaque = abcd 2nd Stage N50 36.c(c-a)(b-c) W002 27.(a+a)a(b-c) A short wander down to the harbour, to find another plaque on a wall. In what year did this unwelcome visitor arrive in Weymouth = efgh 3rd Stage N50 36.d(a-e)a W002 26.(e+h)b(e+g) A nice stroll along the harbour side will take you to the 3rd stage. In what year did Abigail depart from Weymouth = ijkl Final Stage......The cache can be found at N50 36.j(i-e)(l-h) W002 26.hid ....Carefully cross over to the Sea Front Esplanade and follow perimeter path around to the cache, looking out in the Bay for a fantastic view. From the cache if you look in a Southerly Direction up on the Nothe Fort you will see slightly more modern ‘Cannons’ (Actually World War 2 anti aircraft guns).
