This is my first cache and is located just off the popular walk along the old railway line called Preston Junction. This route is also part of the cycle network route no. 55. The cache is located just off the footpath in the bushes to the side. At times this could be muddy and slippery so care should be taken. Lots of walkers and cyclists use this route so care should be taken not to get seen hiding the cache. There is parking close by for a shorter walk.
Todd Lane Junction, previously called Preston Junction until 1952, was a railway station between Preston and Bamber Bridge which closed in 1968. The line from Preston to Bamber Bridge via Todd Lane remained open for passenger trains until 1972. After that the line was retained to serve Lostock Hall Gas Works. The line was closed in 1977 and the trackbed is now a public footpath and cycleway
This line also connected with the engine and goods yards on the road between Preston and Leyland, which in their heyday were considered amongst the largest yards of their type in Europe. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).
The cache is a traditional box hidden in camoflage bag containing notepad, pencil plus other small trinkets for swapping.
